St Mirren chairman Stewart Gilmour has hit back at critics over their refusal to back a restructuring deal for Scottish football.Aberdeen chairman Stewart Milne spoke out against Gilmour, accusing him of putting self-interest ahead of Scottish football. But St Mirren hit back yesterday, as Gilmour said: “On the subject of criticism, we find it hard to accept other football clubs telling us how to vote on football matters, or indeed questioning our motives. It is the right of all clubs to make their own decisions and other clubs should respect this.“We are being accused of self interest. Is that the self interest in consulting with our supporters and staff prior to the board making this decision? If so, we are guilty.” (Scotsman)SFL talksScottish Football League clubs will hold crunch talks next week to salvage some sort of agreement after the recent reconstruction plan failed.SFL chief executive David Longmuir says the deal is aimed at creating a united league body and improved distribution of TV cash.However, Longmuir said the meeting wasn’t about a breakaway league.“Yes there will be a meeting of clubs with a view to what can be done to rescue this situation.“It’s not about an SPL 2, a breakaway or any more divisiveness.”He added: It’s about trying to rebuild bridges so that a bit more money is spread around between clubs under one league body, with play-offs being introduced into the setup.” Daily Record)Jan calls for fixEx-Celtic star Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink fears that Scottish clubs will go under if the league reconstruction woes aren’t fixed soon.The Dutch Hoops hero said: “Maybe you need to get people to have a look at sorting things, out before clubs start to go into oblivion and don’t exist anymore.”He added: I read that there are almost 130 SPL players who are going to be on the street at the end of the season. “That says it all when players are losing their jobs on such a scale and many clubs are struggling.” (Sun)Lustig in heart scareCeltic’s Mikael Lustig has had a heart scare after suffering palpitations during Sunday’s Scottish Cup win over Dundee United.However, he claims he’s fine, and even believes he may feature against Inverness on Sunday.The palpitations came after a bout of illness in the days before the game, and boss Neil Lennon took the player off to allow him to rest.But Lustig said: “I played until the 77th minute when I was substituted. It was just really hard to run.“How am I now? There’s no problem. The legend was playing head-tennis with Dave Bowman, when the ball went through the roof of the main stand. When Robertson went up to fix the damage, he spotted a door which led him to the stash of mementos, which are now set to go on exhibition.

“Being the smallest I was sent up there to fix it with a replacement tile,” said Robbo. “When they hoisted me up onto their shoulders though I noticed there was a secret door. And when we went into it we found all these minute books, trophies, and pennants.” (Various)
