Michael Laudrup linked with Celtic job

FORMER Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup is the latest high-profile candidate to be linked with the vacant managerial role at Celtic Park.

Laudrup, whose brother Brian starred for Rangers in the mid-nineties, has been sounded out by bosses at Celtic, according to the Mail.

Laudrup’s former assistant Morten Wieghorst was linked with the Celtic job earlier this week, with Paolo Di Canio, Owen Coyle, Malky Mackay and Henrik Larsson among others suggested as possible replacements for Neil Lennon. (Mail)

Hibs fans could launch ticket boycott

HIBERNIAN fans will today announce their plans to force chairman Rod Petrie to step down, with reports that fans may consider a season ticket boycott.

The Record reports that the Hibs’ Supporters Association held talks on Monday with a boycott, protest march and cuts in spending by business groups all floated as potential plans.

Association chair Mike Reilly said: “A lot of people pledged support for our plans, which we’re still finalising.” (Record)

Hibs relegation: Craig and McPake set for Premiership return

HIBERNIAN captain Liam Craig could be set for an immediate return to the SPFL Premiership, with St Johnstone keen to snap up the midfielder.

Craig, 27, has been told he can leave Easter Road as the club seek to rebuild following their relegation from the top flight.

Meanwhile, Premiership newcomers Dundee look set to sign former Hibs defender James McPake after his release by the club on Monday. (Sun)

Celtic ‘one of world football’s top 40 brands’

CELTIC have climbed into the top 40 in an annual list of world football’s most valuable brands.

Celtic are 37th in the new Brandirectory list, with the club’s brand valued at £50 million.

Brand Finance, who carried out the research, predicted Celtic would receive a boost to their brand if Rangers are promoted to the Premiership, but claimed that the club will never be one of the game’s top brands while playing in Scotland. (Record)

Rotherham in for Saints star May

ST Johnstone could face a fresh wave of bids for star man Stevie May, with Rotherham reportedly set to make an offer for the striker.

The English Championship newcomers had a £300,000 bid for the Scotland under-21 striker rejected earlier this year, but are said to be keen to try and snap May up this summer.

The Sun report that St Johnstone want to sign May up to a new long-term deal, and have put a seven-figure price tag on their prize asset. (Sun)

Ambrose: Brown can lead Scots back to big time

CELTIC and Nigeria defender Efe Ambrose has backed his club teammate Scott Brown to guide Scotland to a first major finals appearance since 1998.

Ambrose said of the Celtic captain: “Scott is a leader for Celtic and Scotland. He’s a fantastic character… he is a good personality and he brings so much to the team.

“I know he will help his country come again and be successful.” (Sun)
