Norwich ‘keen on Kris Commons’

NORWICH City are reportedly considering a £4 million bid for Kris Commons, according to the Daily Express.

The Canaries, relegated from the Premier League last season, are rumoured to be keen on the attacker as a replacement for Scotland international Robert Snodgrass who left the Norfolk club this summer.

Commons joined Celtic from Derby County in 2011, scoring 50 goals in 100 league games for the club. (Express)

Legia legend Tomaszewski slams Celtic

FORMER Legia Warsaw and Poland goalkeeper Jan Tomaszewski has hit out at Celtic over their controversial reinstatement to the Champions League play-offs.

Tomaszewski told the Record: “This has been the biggest scandal in the history of sport. I now want that Celtic go to stadiums around the world and get boos and whistles for the entire 90 minutes.

“I thought honour was not something you could buy but we have found that not having any is actually worth some money.” (Record)

McCoist puzzled by Rangers’ poor form

RANGERS manager Ally McCoist has admitted that he cannot explain why his side are performing poorly, after they needed two late goals to overcome Falkirk last night.

McCoist said: “I can’t put my finger on what’s wrong because we have got good players and we can - and will - do better.

“The result was the main thing and we are delighted with that, although we will play better.” (Mail)

Mulgrew hopes for good reception for Fergus McCann

CELTIC star Charlie Mulgrew has called on the club’s fans to give Fergus McCann a rousing welcome when he raises the league championship flag at Celtic Park this afternoon.

McCann was booed by some Celtic fans when he unfurled the flag after the 1997-98 title win, but Mulgrew believes the fans now have a great appreciation of McCann’s vision for the club.

Mulgrew said: “At the time maybe he wasn’t appreciated, but now, when you see what’s happening at other clubs, you realise just how much he did for Celtic.” (The Times)

Euro 2020 decision due day after referendum

SCOTLAND will discover whether it has been selected to host games in the 2020 European Championships on 19 September - the day after the vote on Scottish independence.

The SFA bid is up against proposals from 18 other UEFA members, with 13 of those bidding set to host matches in the tournament.

Hampden is the proposed venue for the games - Scotland would not receive an automatic place in the tournament as hosts. (Record)
