Guidetti loan bid hits snag but Scepovic arrives

CELTIC are set to appeal to UEFA after they failed to push through a one-year loan for Manchester City striker John Guidetti.

The move was agreed and papers were filed to the SFA right on the deadline - but it was too late for the signing to be completed.

And now the Hoops are to claim mitigating circumstances prevented them from finalising the deal prior to midnight.

However, the club did secure the services of Stefan Scepovic for a fee of around £2.7m after the Serb had looked set to join Getafe. (Various)

Hoops and St Johnstone fined over Palestine flags

ST Johnstone and Celtic have both been hit by UEFA fines after their fans displayed Palestine flags during European matches.

Supporters at McDiarmid Park waved the flags during their match with Spartak Trnava while Celtic fans did likewise during their match with KR Reykjavik.

St Johnstone chiefs confirmed they had been hit with an €18,000 fine. (Daily Record)

Hibs chief pledges more signings

HIBERNIAN experienced a relatively quiet deadline day, with Celtic winger Dylan McGeouch and Southampton striker Jake Sinclair arriving on season-long loan deals, but chief executive Leeann Dempster told fans that more signings would arrive.

Speaking to supporters at the first of three consultation meetings at Easter Road, Ms Dempster confirmed that the club would replace the injured Farid El Alagui - who sustained a ruptured Achilles in the 2-1 defeat at Alloa - but that it could happen after the window had slammed shut.

Hibs had been linked with a move for Leigh Griffiths since late last week, as well as Lewis Toshney.

Rangers fans blast Somers over salary moan

RANGERS chairman David Somers has been blasted by angry Gers fans after he referred to his ‘poor level of remuneration’ in an email to chief operating officer Philip Nash.

Somers claimed that he was being underpaid, with the email going public amid reports the club needs to raise £4 million in just two weeks of risk entering administration.

The email came to light after a shareholder and supporter requested information on the club’s director service agreements.

Somers earns around £2500 a day, but told Nash in the email: “Personally, I have no problem in shareholders knowing my poor level of remuneration and the Easdales have waived their fees.” (Daily Record)
