Rumour Mill: James Morrison| Celtic| Dunfermline

James Morrison ruled out of Scotland’s Wales clash, Liverpool join Wanyama hunt, tense wait for Dunfermline, and Caley sign Danny Devine.

Butcher signs Devine

Inverness have tied down defender Danny Devine on a two-year contract.

Caley boss Terry Butcher made the move after Devine left Wrexham for a fresh start in Inverness, and it is understood that the 20-year-old snubbed suitors south of the border to settle in the Highlands.

“Maybe I took a gamble coming to Inverness, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. The opportunity to work with Terry Butcher influenced my decision to come here.” (Daily Mail)

Liverpool in Wanyama hunt

Liverpool are the latest team to join the race to sign Celtic star Victor Wanyama.

It is thought the Kenyan international looks set to depart in the summer, hopefully raising £10m for the Hoops, with Manchester United, City, Arsenal, Sunderland, and Everton already said to be watching him.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to bolster his squad and Wanyama’s performance in Celtic’s Champions League campaign has seen him showcase a versatile playing style. (Daily Mail)

• Celtic meanwhile are reported to be looking at Wolves striker Kevin Doyle again after a failed loan bid in January.

Tense wait for Dunfermline fans

Dunfermline fans are facing a further wait to find out of the Fife club can be saved after a supporter-led consortium gained access to the Pars’ accounts yesterday.

The mysterious group are examining the club’s records to see if they can obtain a 50 per cent shareholding and stop the team being wound up by the tax and revenue authorities.

HMRC are chasing the club over £134,000 and current owner Gavin Mastering has so far been unable to reach an agreement with fans’ groups to save Dunfermline. (Daily Express)
