Henning Berg in shouting match with Ronny Deila

Legia Warsaw boss Hennging Berg had a heated telephone exchange with his Celtic counterpart after the Parkhead club refused to return or answer phone calls afer his side were dismissed from the Champions League.

The Sun reports that Ronny Deila would have been up for a play-off match between the two sides, according to Berg,

Celtic will not rush Forrest

Hopes of James Forrest being involved in Celtic’s Champions League tie against Maribor have been dashed after Ronny Deila said that he would not rush the 23 year-old’sreturn to first team action.

The winger missed the last 10 games of last season following a hamstring injury and made a brief appearance during the second leg of Celtic’s 2 - 0 defeat to Legia Warsaw.

Motherwell resign Henrik Ojamaa

Motherwell have taken Legia Warsaw forward Henrik Ojamaa on loan again until January following his first successful loan spell at the Lanarkshire club.

The striker flew into Glasgow last night after penning the deal, and the club are now waiting for international clearance for Ojamaa to make his return tomorrow at Fir Park against John Hughes’ Inverness Caley Thistle. (Various)

Aberdeen backed to challenge for Premiership title

Former Aberdeen attacker Josh Magennis believes the Dons will mount a Scottish Premiership title challenge to Celtic.

The Northern Ireland international was in the Kilmarnock side beaten 2-0 by the Dons at Rugby Park on Wednesday night as goals in either half from midfielders Peter Pawlett and Ryan Jack sealed an impressive win for Aberdeen.

Magennis, who moved to Aberdeen from Cardiff City in 2010 and spent four years at Pittodrie before his release in the summer after a loan spell at St Mirren, believes his former club can improve on last season’s third-place finish. (Press and Journal)

Kris Boyd says no excuses for poor start

Rangers striker Kris Boyd has refused to blame his lack of scoring form on a lack of service, as his strike partner Kenny Miller did earlier this week,

Boyd stressed: “I won’t sit here and criticise anyone for not creating chances because I know that I’ve not been doing my job to the best of my ability either. I’ll look myself in the mirror and ask if I’m doing enough before I criticise anyone else.

“There was a lot made of me and Kenny coming back to the club at the start of the season. I’ve always said I feel an Old Firm striker should be getting 20 or 25 goals a season and we’re under pressure to do that. If we don’t manage to do that then we’ve let the club down.

“For us, it’s a matter of getting into the positions to score. We’re saying a lot of chances haven’t been created but we could also do better to get into positions to score goals. It’s a matter of to go and show that at Falkirk. It doesn’t matter what’s happened in the past, it’s about what’s happening now. And at the end of the day, none of us have scored goals and we need tp start and hopefully against Falkirk.

“The standards set at this club and demands you put on yourself are to win games. If I don’t get 25 goals then I’ll have let myself and the club down. I’ve done that for numerous seasons now – I’ve gone in and scored goals. For me, it’s about scoring goals and quickly because I feel as if I can kick on and go on a run once I score one.”
