Hearts and Dunfermline hail cup fund boost

Troubled clubs Hearts and Dunfermline will get a funds boost from a new cup contest.

The Supporters Direct Scotland Fans’ Cup will be held at East End Park on Saturday at 2pm, and gate receipts from the game will be split equally between both clubs. (Scotsman)

Hibs boss Pat Fenlon says Scottish football should consider summer fixtures in order to raise the game of the nation’s clubs in Europe.

Fenlon saw dramatic improvements in Ireland when they switched to a summer calendar in 2003, and he says the extra game time will help squads properly find their feet. (Herald)

Hibs circling Jermaine Renee Howe

Hibs are hoping to sign ex-Torquay striker Jermaine Rene Howe, in a bid to replace Leigh Griffiths.

Howe said on Twitter yesterday morning that he was heading to Edinburgh, which prompted suspicions that he could be destined for Hibs. (Daily Record)

Southampton set to land Victor Wanyama

Celtic star Victor Wanyama looks set to go to Southampton in a record-breaking transfer for Scottish football.

The £12.5m deal for the Kenyan hero would be a huge boost for the club, which originally bought him for £900,000 in 2011.

Dundee sign pair

Dundee have signed keeper Kyle Letheren and striker Steven Doris, each on two year deals.
