Newcastle keen on Celtic’s Forster

NEWCASTLE United are reportedly considering a move to re-sign goalkeeper Fraser Forster.

The Celtic keeper left St James’ Park in 2010, with his move to Parkhead made permanent two years later. The 26-year-old has since impressed in the Champions League and made his full England debut.

The Magpies received £2.2 million for Forster in 2012 - it’s believed Celtic would want at least three times that figure for the keeper, who has another two years to go on his contract. (Express)

Fraser Aird snubs Scotland for Canada

RANGERS midfielder Fraser Aird is set to pledge his international future to his native Canada, after appearing for Scotland at under-17 and under-19 level.

19-year-old Aird, who has scored six goals for the Ibrox side this season, is set for a call up to the full Canada squad for friendlies against Bulgaria and Moldova next month.

Under FIFA rules Aird could change his mind after making his Canada debut, with players only tied to a country once they play their first competitive game. (Sun)

Rangers: ‘Give us the facts’ say fans’ group

THE Union of Fans supporters group have called on Rangers chief executive Graham Wallace to deliver a report free from “vague corporate speak” when his business review concludes tomorrow.

In a statement, the group said: “We expect to see a full breakdown of how the club arrived at the point where it needed to borrow funds just to complete the current season. This should include a full breakdown of where the IPO money went.

“We hope that this review will not simply be more vague corporate speak from Mr Wallace. We want to see tangible, measurable progress and firm commitments on the huge investment required.” (Herald)

Kilmarnock facing SPFL ‘forgery’ rap

THE SPFL are reportedly set to launch a major investigation amid claims that a member of Kilmarnock staff forged a player’s signature on league documents.

According to the Daily Record, the probe will examine claims that a player’s signature was forged by a Kilmarnock staffer in order to register the player in time for Killie’s game against Celtic last month. If proven, the offence would almost certainly lead to a points deduction.

Celtic in line for six-figure World Cup boost

THE Brazil-bound members of Neil Lennon’s Celtic squad could net the club hundreds of thousands of pounds, after FIFA almost doubled the money paid to clubs whose players take part in the World Cup.

Georgios Samaras (Greece), Efe Ambrose (Nigeria), Tom Rogic (Australia), Emilio Izaguirre (Honduras) and Fraser Forster (England) are all in line for call-ups, with FIFA paying out up to £46,620 per player.

Clubs receive compensation per day per squad member, from two weeks before the start of the tournament to the date of a squad’s final match. The money is paid regardless of whether the players appear in games. (Various)

Birmingham chase Motherwell’s Hutchinson

MOTHERWELL defender Shaun Hutchinson is reportedly being tracked by English Championship side Birmingham City, according to the Express.

Hutchinson is out of contract at the end of the season, and Motherwell will receive no compensation for the Englishman if he moves south.

The Fir Park side will be entitled to training compensation if Hutchinson moves to a Scottish team, with Rangers reportedly interested in the 23-year-old defender who has made 31 appearances for the Steelmen this season. (Express)
