Deila close to becoming new Celtic manager

Celtic are close to naming Ronny Deila as their new manager, provided Celtic and Stromsgodset can agree a deal over compensation. It is understood the 38-year-old’s agent was in Glasgow yesterday for talks and has agreed terms.

Speaking after Stromsgodset’s Norwegian cup defeat last night, Deila said: “It’s just speculation. And there will always be speculation around people who are doing well. Of course I am flattered. It’s great to be linked with a club like Celtic.

Norwegian media reports say Peter Lawell has contacted Stromgodset to express an interest in speaking to Deila on Tuesday night. (Various)

Kenny Miller returns to Rangers

Kenny Miller has rejoined Rangers and immediately promised to fire the club back into the top flight. This is the striker’s third stint at the club, joining Rangers once more after being released by Vancouver Whitecaps. The former Scotland striker has signed a one year deal with the option for a further year.

The front man completed his medical at Murray Park yesterday, before putting pen to paper.

Miller said: “I am thrilled to return to Rangers for a third time. I have enjoyed so much success at this great club and I’m determined to repeat it again next season and beyond.” (Various)

Celtic have reportedly identified former player John Collins as the man they want to provide knowledge of the club and the wider Scottish game for Deila, who has never coached outside of Norway. (Various)

Leigh Griffith’s SFA hearing postponed ‘indefinitely’

The SFA have postponed a disciplinary hearing involving Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths for the third time. A spokesman for the ruling body said: “Tomorrow’s hearing has been cancelled and no new date will set until Police Scotland finish their on-going criminal investigation.”

The striker was initially charged after being caught on camera singing “Hearts are going bust”. But the charge was updated when fresh footage of him singing, along with other Hibernian fans, a song that refers to former Hearts player Rudi Skacel as a “refugee”. (Record)

Taylor-Sinclair vows to make his mark at Wigan

Former Partick Thistle defender Aaron Taylor-Sinclair has vowed to prove he is good enough to thrive in England after sealing a move to Wigan. The left back had been tipped to join Celtic but has now penned a three year deal with the Championship side after his contract with Partick expired. He said: “When the chance to come to Wigan came up, I was very interested. This is the next step in my career.” (Mail)
