Celtic’s Turkish tournament in doubt

Celtic’s participation in a 4 team tournament in Turkey is in doubt after Galatasaray announced they may pull out of the competition over a disagreement over TV money.

Celtic are due to play Trabzonspor of January 9 with Champions League foes Ajax also in the competition.

The Parkhead club has already rescheduled their match against Kilmarnock on January 11.

Aberdeen consider move for David Goodwillie

Blackburn forward David Goodwillie is a target for Aberdeen with the Pittodrie club keen to take the

24 year-old on loan.

Goodwillie’s current loan deal with Dundee United has ended after he failed to impress at Tannadice however

Celtic target Norwood to put in transfer request

Huddersfield’s Oliver Norwood is set to put in a transfer request in a bid to force through

a move to Parkhead.

The 23 year-old’s hopes of a move appeared dashed after the Championship side said no player would leaving in January as they bid for a play-off place.

Norwood has 18 months left on his current deal and has been scouted by Celtic in recent months. (Sun)

Lennon plays down Fletcher link

Celtic boss Neil Lennon has played down transfer talk linking Sunderland’s Darren Fletcher with a move to Parkhead. The Irishman said he was an admirer of the Scotland international but said he had “no idea” where the story came from and pointed to the fact that the 26 year-old cost £12m when signed from Wolves 18 months - a fee far removed from Celtic’s transfer budget. McCoist accuses SPFL of anti-Rangers agenda

Rangers manager Ally McCoist has accused the SPFL of being biased against Rangers after the league body refused a request to have a rescheduled game against Stenhousemuir to be moved to stop the Ibrox side playing 3 away fixtures in 7 days.

He said: “It’s different initials but the same old story in the way our club is treated.” (Scotsman)

Aberdeen sign Swansea’s Alan Tate

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has landed Swansea defender Alan Tate on loan until the end of the season. The 31 year-old once captained Swansea but has struggled to break back into the first team since suffering an injury in 2011. (Record)

No animosity towards Bangura - Lennon

Celtic manager Neil Lennon says Mo Bangura’s team-mates will show the 24 year-old no animosity after he returned from a year loan spell at Elfsborg.

The £2.2m striker caused controversy when opted to play against the Parkhead side in this season’s Champions League qualifiers. Bangura clashed with captain Scott Brown during the encounter with the skipper refusing to shake hands at the end of the match.

Lennon said: “That’s in the past. I didn’t have a problem with Mo, it was with Elfsborg, for making him play against us. He is determined to make his mark.”

Stokes calls for reality check amongst Celtic support

Celtic forward Tony Stokes has called for a reality check amongst the Celtic following rising criticism over the club’s recent performances. The Irishman says he would rather be playing in a side that was grinding out results - Celtic extended their unbeaten run to 19 games against Inverness - than in one that was playing flowing football but losing every weekend.
