Celtic v AC Milan: More knocks for Italians

• CELTIC have been boosted ahead of their Champions League tie in Milan by news that Stephan El Shaarawy and captain Riccardo Montolivo will miss the game through injury. El Shaarawy is out for three weeks with a thigh injury, while Montolivo went down with a hamstring injury against Torino yesterday. (Mail)

• DEFENDER Philippe Mexes believes that the advantage Celtic held over teams last year is now gone thanks to last year’s displays. The Frenchman said: “The element of surprise has been removed... and teams will be alert to Celtic.” (MoS)

Rangers: Paul Murray calls for openness

PAUL Murray, a former director at Rangers, has called for increased financial transparency from the club’s board.

Murray, one of the group of shareholders who made a recently-withdrawn demand for an EGM at Ibrox, said that he understood “concern” over the club’s finances after the admission that the club has spent the majority of its recent funding.

Murray said: “There’s more financial transparency and corporate governance at my golf club than there is at Rangers.”

SFA boss to make Hampden’s Euro 2020 case

STEWART Regan is hopeful that UEFA can be convinced that Hampden is a suitable venue for Euro 2020 games, despite falling short on hospitality facilities.

Hampden currently has just over a quarter of the required corporate spaces, and an upgrade to add the rest could cost £10 million. But Regan is hopeful that UEFA see the hospitality numbers as a guide rather than a rule, and that Hampden’s other features see it selected.

Locke: ‘Penalty was a mistake’

HEARTS manager Gary Locke hit out at Willie Collum after the referee gave a penalty against his side in their game with Celtic yesterday.

Locke said: “Unfortunately for us there was only one man in the stadium who thought it was a penalty and he was the most important one.

“When the referee gives it there’s not much you can do about it.” (Sun)

Steven Fletcher will be in Croatia squad - Strachan

SCOTLAND boss Gordon Strachan will pick Sunderland’s Steven Fletcher for next month’s clash with Croatia, providing the striker is fully fit.
