Celtic Pukki bid thrown out

Celtic have had seven-figure sum for Teemu Pukki snubbed by FC Schalke 04 of the Bundesliga.

The Parkhead club had been looking to snare the Finnish player after seeing little movement in the bid to sign Alfred Finnbogason. Pukki is thought to be worth around £2.5m. (Various)

Charles Green’s supporters could be strengthening their position ahead of a board meeting next week after two blocks of one million Rangers shares were sold for £415,000 each yesterday.

The move sparked speculation that the power struggle is still ongoing at the Ibrox boardroom in the run-up to the meeting, which could see Green ousted as a consultant. (Daily Mail)

McCourt moves on

Hibs’ hope of signing former Celtic star Paddy McCourt look to be fading after he began a trial with English side Barnsley.

McCourt had been training with Hibs, who are still looking for someone to find the net after the departure of Leigh Griffiths. (Daily Express)

Balde wants Forster to stay

Amido Balde is calling on Fraser Forster to ignore any thoughts of a move to Benfica, because it would be a step down from Celtic.

The Portuguese giants are mulling over a £5m swoop for Forster, but Balde says Celtic are a better shout for European football. (Sun)

Atkinson steps down

St Mirren director Richard Atkinson is stepping down, in a move that comes a year after he failed in an attempt to put fans in control of the club.

Atkinson was quick to praise the club’s staff, players, and fans, but it is thought that his presence could have scared off other suitors for the team. (Herald)
