‘No more departures’ says Neil Lennon

Kelvin Wilson is the last player to leave Celtic this summer, according to boss Neil Lennon. Lennon also said that he remains keen to add new faces to the squad ahead of the forthcoming transfer deadline.

Lennon said: “I am not envisaging anyone else leaving, it is just a question of adding to the squad now. I think it’s imperative we do. We are a little bit short in certain areas, and I think the fans would like to see the squad getting a bit of freshness in.” (Herald)

Celtic in for long trip to plastic pitch in Kazakhstan

Celtic face a fourteen-hour round trip to the fringes of Europe in their Champions League qualifying play-off after drawing Kazakh champions Shakter Karaganda.

Celtic will play the away leg of the tie in the capital Astana on an artificial pitch - their third run-in with a non-grass surface in three rounds of qualifying. (Various)

Hearts in administration: Foundation snubs Massone offer

The battle for control of Hearts continues, with fans’ group Foundation of Hearts revealed yesterday that they have no intention of working with Angelo Massone on a joint bid. The Evening News revealed yesterday that Massone had invited the Foundation to team up with him, but it is understood that the group will reject his proposal to focus on their own bid. McCoist: Green return has ‘unsettled’ Rangers

Rangers manager Ally McCoist says every employee of the Ibrox club has been “unsettled” by the latest off-the-field troubles to engulf it in the wake of Charles Green’s return as a consultant and Walter Smith’s resignation as chairman.

McCoist also said that he felt that a proposed extraordinary general meeting following Green’s return ran the risk of making more of the club’s internal divisions public.

He said: “Whether decisions are made before or at the meeting is immaterial to me, I just want the decision to be made and for everyone to get together and once and for all think about the future of the club and move on.” (Scotsman)

Edinburgh derby: Pressure on Fenlon, police warn on flares

• Hibs take on Hearts in the Edinburgh derby tomorrow, with Pat Fenlon firmly in the spotlight. The Hibs boss is under pressure after high-profile defeats in last year’s cup final and in the two-leg loss to Malmo, and The Scotsman’s Stuart Bathgate believes that Fenlon’s players need to gel quickly to get their manager out of trouble.

Bathgate writes in today’s Scotsman: “This is Fenlon’s team, and he has been able to sign a host of players who by general consent are no duds. In other words, if they fail to function together, the blame will be laid squarely at the manager’s door.” (Scotsman)

• Hearts and Hibs have backed a ‘no flares’ call from police ahead of tomorrow’s game. Police Scotland have warned they will take “robust action” against anyone found with flares or fireworks, and warn searches will be conducted outside the ground on matchday.

• Fenlon’s hopes for the season have been dealt a major blow after it was confirmed that midfielder Alex Harris is out for three months with a broken foot. Harris suffered the injury in Hibs’ opening-day loss to Falkirk. (Scotsman)
