Henrik Larsson ‘wants Celtic job’

Murdo MacLeod has said Celtic will regret not appointing Henrik Larsson for the Celtic job in the wake of Neil Lennon’s departure.

MacLeod, a close friend of Larsson’s, feels the current Falkenbergs manager would be a good appointment for Celtic despite his relative lack of experience.

He said: “I disagree with anyone who says he does not have enough experience because Neil Lennon came in without any at all.

He added: “He would 100 per cent be up for it and when you have a coach who wants to come back to the club that is a good thing to have.” (Sunday Herald)

Martin O’Neill will recommend Roy Keane for Celtic job

Roy Keane, the assistant manager of the Republic of Ireland, will be given a huge boost by Martin O’Neill as the Republic of Ireland manager pledged to recommend the Manchester United legend for the top job at Parkhead. Martin, the Republic of Ireland manager, said: “Roy will make a good manager. The experiences he had at Sunderland and Ipswicch will stand him in good stead.”

He added: “He will become a manager again. I wouldn’t stand in his way. I would speak to Roy about anything that arises.” (Mail on Sunday)

Coyle stops short of putting hat in ring for Celtic job

OWEN Coyle says Celtic are a “top club” but stopped short of formally declaring an interest in the vacant manager’s post at Parkhead.

The search for the new Parkhead boss is under way after Neil Lennon stepped down on Thursday having led the club to three Scottish Premiership titles during his four-year spell in charge.

He told the BBC:“Glasgow Celtic are a global club, there’s no doubt about that - and of course it’s a marvellous job,”

“Like anything else, the bookies’ (odds) change very quickly. I don’t think I was the favourite yesterday. (Scotsman)

Rangers left in lurch by lack of season ticket money

Rangers face being unable to pay an emergency loan after it emerged that they may not have raised sufficient funds from season ticket sales to pay it off.

The deadline for season ticket renewals passed last week, yet George Letham, who took over the £1 million share of the debt from Laxey Partners, has yet to receive any money. Letham took over the debt after discovering that Laxey Partners stood to gain £150,000 in interest over six months. According to the Sunday Mail, Rangers chief executive Graham Wallace has not responded to an email from Letham asking how many season tickets had been sold. (Sunday Mail)

500 Rangers fans protest outside of Ibrox

Rangers fans have held a protest at Ibrox aimed at the current board.

Around 500 supporters gathered at Ibrox for the demonstration which saw fans carrying placards displaying why they will not be renewing their season tickets.

The protest was organised by the Sons of Struth fans group who, as part of the Union of Fans, want supporters to put their money instead into a trust.

The scheme, which has been rejected for the current board, would see the money handed over to the club in return for security over Ibrox Stadium and Murray Park. (Scitsman)
