Cammy Bell to sign for Rangers

Kilmarnock goalkeeper Cammy Bell has agreed to sign for Rangers next season, once their transfer embargo is lifted. The 26-year-old was on Ipswich Town’s radar earlier this year, and with his contract at Rugby Park up in the summer, has reached an understanding with the Ibrox club to join them for next season.

Bell was capped for Scotland against the Faroe Islands in 2010 and has made 110 appearances for Kilmarnock. (BBC)

Legal threat belies cosy relationship between Green and Whyte

Charles Green reportedly sent a message to Craig Whyte after he secured preferred bidder status during last summer’s takeover - but 12 months later, is facing the prospect of a legal challenge from the former Rangers owner.

Green is said to have exchanged texts with Whyte after meeting administrators Duff and Phelps, saying: ‘Just to let you know I’ve signed,’ to which Whyte replied ‘Great news! Well done!’

But the former Ibrox owner is now gearing up to sue Green to the tune of £50 million, representing club assets that the tycoon says were transferred illegally.

Whyte claims he was behind Sevco 5088, the company who bought Rangers for £5.5 million in June 2012 - but Green has hit back, calling Whyte ‘delusional’ and admitting that he ‘shafted’ him over least year’s takeover. (The Sun)

Kris Commons deserving of awards, says team-mate

Celtic defender Mikael Lustig believes there is no better talent than Kris Commons in the SPL at the moment. Whilst his team-mates Victor Wanyama, Gary Hooper and Fraser Forster have made headlines, Lustig feels Commons - who has bounced back from a forgettable season last year - has the best left foot in the league.

The stopper, whose controversial ‘goal’ helped Celtic to a 3-0 win over Hibs at the weekend added that he believes the Parkhead side ‘need players like [Commons] and James Forrest, guys who can take the ball and do something special.’ (The Sun)

Top six should be minimum, admits McPake

Hibernian captain James McPake has stressed that finishing in the top 6 should be the bare minimum for Hibs, after the Easter Road side’s failure to end up in the top half of the SPL before the split, and admitted that the club’s failure to maintain their good start to the season was their own fault.

“Our aim at the start of the season was to finish in the top six,” said McPake.

“We’re a big club in terms of Scottish football, so we should be looking to finish as high up the league as possible, and the top six should be a minimum for us.

With an upcoming Scottish Cup semi-final against First Division Falkirk, the former Livingston and Coventry stopper is all too aware that Hibs need to sharpen up for their Hampden trip.

“Our form recently hasn’t been good enough. It’s unfortunate, but we’ve got to move on quickly. We’ve got another huge game coming up on Saturday, so we’ve got to get the heads right.”
