Boyd won’t rule out Ibrox return

KRIS Boyd is refusing to rule out an emotional Ibrox return after Ally McCoist admitted he hoped to sign the Kilmarnock striker.

Asked whether he was going to sign the 30-year-old in the summer, McCoist replied: “I hope so.”

Boyd, who is out of contract at the end of the season, said: “I grew up a Rangers fans but right now I don’t know what will happen in the future. I can’t sit here and say that I’m going to be at Kilmarnock forever.” (Daily Record)

Lennon denies seeking move to England

NEIL Lennon has played down claims he’s touting himself for a move south of the border.

The Celtic manager revealed he was surprised no English clubs had attempted to lure him from Parkhead but denied he was actively looking for a move.

The 42-year-old said: “Absolutely not. My work is not finished here. But I think the majority of managers in Britain would like to have a go in the Premier League. Whether that ever happens to me or not, I don’t know.” (Daily Express)

King claims £50m needed to rescue Rangers

DAVE King last night claimed it will take £50 million to rescue Rangers.

The South Africa-based tycoon is in talks with investors and wealthy fans in a bid to raise the money he believes is necessary to get the club back competing against Celtic.

King said he would underwrite any shortfall if he is made chairman at Ibrox. (The Sun)

McCoist hasn’t called for Gunning says McNamara

DUNDEE United boss Jackie McNamara insists Rangers haven’t contacted him about out-of-contract defender Gavin Gunning.

McCoist revealed he is interested in signing Gunning as he looks to strengthen his squad for the Championship.

But McNamara said: “I wasn’t aware that Ally had spoken about Gunning. I would be surprised about it because I’d expect that Rangers would have called us first to say so.” (Daily Record)

Fletcher’s future uncertain at Man Utd

SCOTLAND captain Darren Fletcher faces an uncertain future at Manchester United after emerging among a group of players manager David Moyes would consider selling if the price was right.

The midfielder, a firm favourite of former manager Sir Alex Ferguson, only recently returned to top-team action after battling a chronic bowel condition that almost cost him his career.

United are not actively looking to sell Fletcher, but he has found himself down the pecking order under Moyes and it is believed the Old Trafford club would listen to offers for him. (Daily Mail)

St Mirren boss faces wait to hear about job

ST MIRREN manager Danny Lennon will have to wait until the end of the season to see if he still has a job.

His contract is up in the summer but the club’s board is not expected to make a decision about the man who led the Buddies to League Cup glory last season until the club’s own future has been decided.

The club has been up for sale since 2009 and Scottish businessman Jim Methven has been recently linked with a consortium-led takeover who may wish to bring in their own man. (Daily Express)
