Clyde want Barry Ferguson

LEAGUE Two side Clyde are mulling over a shock move for ex-Rangers midfielder Barry Ferguson in their hunt for a new manager.

The Bully Wee lost manager Jim Duffy to Morton at the end of last season, and have targeted the 36-year-old as a potential replacement.

Ferguson has been linked with a number of jobs after keeping Blackpool in the Championship, and is understood to be on holiday at the moment.

He is reportedly aware of Clyde’s interest, and is set to hold talks with chairman John Alexander on his return. (Daily Record)

Seagulls eye swoop for Steve Clarke

BRIGHTON could be set to put the kibosh on Celtic’s move for former West Brom boss Steve Clarke.

The former Chelsea coach emerged as the new favourite for the Celtic Park hotseat after Roy Keane distanced himself from the post.

But the Championship side are understood to have already interviewed Clarke about the vacant position at the Falmer Stadium.

Celtic have made contact with Clarke, who is believed to be keen on a move north of the Border. (The Sun)

Henrik ‘perfect choice’ for Hoops, says Eriksson

EX-England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has said his countryman Henrik Larsson is the perfect choice for Celtic as their manager hunt continues.

The Swede had been linked with the job but insisted his future lay with Allsvenskan side Falkenbergs.

And Eriksson has said: “Celtic is the perfect job for Henrik. He is still the King in Scotland. He’s Mr Celtic, or was anyway, and has done well with Falkenbergs. I am sure he would be an excellent choice.” (The Sun)

Meanwhile, Australian midfielder Tom Rogic will miss out on the World Cup after failing to make the Socceroos’ final squad.

And Championship side Norwich are planning to raid Celtic for scout John Park. The ex-Hibs man is understood to have been earmarked by the Canaries for their newly-created director of football.

Dempster says No to Hibs fans rally plans

HIBS chief executive Leeann Dempster has thrown out a bid from angry fans to stage a protest at Easter Road - but campaign spokesman Paul Kane insists the ‘Petrie Out’ rally will still go ahead.

Disgruntled supporters wanting Rod Petrie’s removal from the club are on the look out for a new venue after their plans to use the 6,000-capacity East Stand were flatly refused.

Hibs cited a lack of clarity on numbers, protesters’ plans, stadium maintenance work and health and safety issues.

The campaign group are considering Meadowbank Stadium or Leith Links as possible alternatives. (The Scotsman)

St Mirren have entered the race for Hibernian’s Liam Craig, with the 27-year-old told he can leave Easter Road. However, the midfielder is reportedly keen on a move back to St Johnstone.

DUNDEE United have become the latest club linked with Kris Boyd, after Jackie McNamara held informal talks with the 30-year-old.

Boyd, who has attracted interest from Rangers and Aberdeen, has been earmarked as a potential mentor and coach for McNamara’s young squad, with chairman Stephen Thompson on standby to tie up a deal.

But Derek McInnes is still on the lookout for a frontman, and the Dons could provide serious competition to United. (Daily Record)
