Celtic’s Ambrose could start Champions League clash

NIGERIAN defender Efe Ambrose could come straight back into the Celtic starting line-up for the club’s vital Champions League qualifier with KR Reykjavik.

Ambrose, who started all four game in Nigeria’s World Cup campaign, is yet to meet new boss Ronny Deila, but the Norwegian is ready to bring the defender straight into the team.

Deila said: “I would have no hesitation about throwing him in. He is a quality player and we need all the quality we have.” (Sun)

Hull City fail to agree Robertson deal

DUNDEE United defender Andrew Robertson’s move to Hull City has stalled, according to reports.

Robertson, 20, has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs including Everton and Southampton, but the Tigers had appeared to be front-runners to snap the star up.

However, negotiations on a fee have failed. Dundee United’s finances have been boosted by the sale of Ryan Gauld for over £2 million, which has reduced any pressure to sell up. (Record)

Zaliukas fulfils ‘destiny’ in Rangers move

FORMER Hearts captain Marius Zaliukas has claimed that his move to Rangers was “destined” to take place.

Zaliukas said: “My destiny was to come back and I’m really excited to start my Rangers career.

“I’m really happy to be here and the team has welcomed me.

“There’s pressure and expectation on Rangers to be first every season and I’m going to work hard to make sure that’s the case.” (Various)

Kenny Shiels ‘knows what Scolari is going through’

FORMER Kilmarnock boss Kenny Shiels has drawn a comparison between Brazil’s 7-1 defeat to Germany in the World Cup semi-finals and his final game in charge of Morton.

Shiels is currently looking for a new role after leaving Morton, with his final game at the club ending in a 10-2 defeat to Hamilton.

Adam to make Dundee debut against Manchester City

GRANT Adam - brother of former Rangers midfielder Charlie - looks set to make his debut for Dundee tomorrow in a glamour friendly against Manchester City.

Adam signed a short-term deal with the Dees this week after keeper Scott Bain was struck down with appendicitis.

City’s squad is reportedly set to feature the likes of French midfielder Samir Nasri and Spanish striker Alvaro Negredo. (Various)

FORMER Celtic star Gary Hooper could be set for a move to QPR, just 12 months after leaving Parkhead.

Hooper signed for Norwich City last summer, scoring just eight goals last season as the club were relegated for the Premier League.
