Ally McCoist receives assurances about his immediate future

Ally McCoist has received assurances about his immediate future from the Rangers hierarchy in the wake of Mike Ashley’s move for further say in the running of the club. PLC chairman David Somers and football board chairman Sandy Easdale both spoke with McCoist to tell him to concentrate fully on a hectic schedule of fixtures. McCoist said: “ I received a couple of phone calls from the chairman and Sandy Easdale this morning which was great. The chairman was great. He was kind enough to explain the board’s views and opinions on taking the Mike Ashley offer.” Mr Easdale added: “We have not got any ideas of changing the manager. Ronny Deila insists he’ll do all he can to keep John Guidetti

Ronny Deila last night admitted he wants to keep John Guidetti and will do all he can to keep him at the club. Deila was delighted to hear the striker speaking on his ambition to secure a quadruple with the Parkhead club. The Celtic manager is now hoping to sign the swede for nothing when his contract with Man City runs out at the end of the season. He said: “I want to keep him as a player, get his contract permanently here, because he has the values I love. He’s humble, he wants to learn, he wants to improve - and he is a winner. Derek Llambias insists Rangers are in safe hands

Derek Llambias has reassured Rangers supportersabout Mike Ashley’s plans for the club - but the Scottish Football Association is now set to demand answers following his power grab. Former Newcastle managing director Llambias touched down in Glasgow after jetting in from London on Monday night. Llambias is a close ally of Magpies owner Ashley and is now expected to replace Graham Wallace as chief executive following his resignation. Llambias said: “Mike Ashley has got a great track record.” He added: “I’ve been invited up here to have discussions with the board and I’m one of many applicants.” (Various)

John Robertson hits back at Alan Stubbs over Hearts claims

John Robertson has hit back at Alan Stubbs over claims Hearts lacked class after Sunday’s derby draw. Alim Ozturk’s injury time wonder strike sparked raucous scenes of celebration in the away stand at Easter Road and on the Hearts’ bench. But Robertson insists Hibs would have behaved exactly the same way. He said: “ I know Alan is a wee bit upset with what he feels was Hearts showing no class after the game. But you are down to ten men and you have scored in the second minute of injury time with a 40-yard wonder goal to stay top of the league and unbeaten. Are you not supposed to celebrate that?
