'Reality under Lennon', 'Tony Mowbray vibes', 'Feeling of resignation is baffling': Celtic fans react to 2-1 defeat at home to St Mirren
St Mirren’s first win at Parkhead since 1990 leaves Neil Lennon’s team 23 points off Rangers – but with two games in hand on their Ibrox rivals.
Confidence among the support though, is at a low ebb after the afternoon defeat.
@hug5y: “Hard to believe our club has been taken from invincible, quadruple winning, nine titles in a row winning team to an utter shambles that can't beat Livi reserves and drop points at home on a regular basis – shambles.”
@tonyarthur9560: “Sadly this is not a shock anymore, this is reality under Lennon. The shock is, he is still the manager and Duffy is still allowed on the park with a Celtic top on. We will be lucky to get in the top four at this rate.”
@jackhannah18881: “Brilliant performance all we were missing is points and shots on target and good football and some heart and some fight and a good manager and good player but it was great.”
@PatrickMurphy89: “Deservedly beaten. We're a club going absolutely nowhere.”
@newryhurler1: “Only positive is that surely now he will be forced to walk. Nineteen shots, four on target and one goal, let that sink in. It wouldn't be acceptable in Sunday League football.”
@AaronHorner8867: “Tony Mowbray vibes.”
Many called for the manager to leave – either of his own volition or by action from the boardroom – but the players were not spared either.
@steffang92: “That's it I am done until Lennon is gone, I cannot sit and watch us struggle anymore when I know we can do better.”
@goldenplimsoles: “Neil Lennon will always be a Celtic Legend and I’ll never abuse him. It’s time to go though Neil, it’s been an embarrassment of a season so far and the bud stops with you. Do the right thing.@chriskel36: “He needs to resign or be let go, it’s incredible how this season has panned out. I’m shocked at how far we've been off the pace and it just looks now that the players don’t care.”
@tamthebhoy6788: “I'll take an interest when Lennon leaves, till then I won't be buying any tops, merch, nothing love ma club but he's ruined it, as have the players."
@PeterMcDade: “Feels like we just accepted this wasn’t going to be our year as far back as Nov/Dec. I was amazed when we didn’t have a few signings ready for the 1st of January. The feeling of resignation is baffling coming off of four years of the place having been bouncing.”
@davemiller629: “I know the club clearly want to rebuild in summer. But if this continues we are risking next season at this rate. Change needs made, even if it’s just a caretaker to try and spur some sort of desire from the players.”
@Stiobhan63: “Well done St Mirren, best team won. Watching Celtic this season is like death by a thousand cuts. Shameful.”
@AlanBak98591872: “English fans always telling us their nans could manage Celtic. I think we should honestly take them up on that offer at this stage.”
