Rangers to offer free wifi for supporters at Ibrox

The deal, said to be worth seven-figures, will offer fans instant access to “content-rich media”, and allow them to “participate in real-time interactions with the club”.

Rangers chief executive Craig Mather said: “Rangers FC is rightly proud of its tremendous fan base, which has stood by the team through thick and thin and we aim to provide our supporters with a world-class wifi service to enhance their matchday experience.”

The phased deployment of wireless internet at Ibrox is due to begin in August on a stand by stand basis giving fans the ability to go online and receive content such as club competitions, merchandising, team talk discussions and forthcoming events.

“The high data capacity that wifi delivers will allow Rangers fans to use social networks to share their experiences, as well as allowing the club to enhance its ‘digital dialogue’ with its supporters.”

Last week Celtic announced they were to offer full wifi access to their fans after making a deal to bring CISCO’s innovative Connected Stadium package to Celtic Park.

Celtic’s wifi project will also be in place for the upcoming season, CISCO’s ‘Connected Stadium’ package is similar to those in place at European giants Barcelona, Real Madrid, Liverpool and Manchester City.
