Gers learn price for target

Rangers will have to shell out £4.5 million to land Amiens midfielder Bongani Zungu, according to reports in France. When the Gers were first linked with the South African, who has been compared to Yaya Toure and Paul Pogba, his price tag appeared to be less than £2 million but the Unicorns are now seeking around €5 million for the 27-year-old. Zungu is the fourth Amiens player to be linked with Rangers in the last 12 months, with the Ibrox side credited with an interest in Serhou Guirassy, Moussa Konate and Stiven Mendoza. Hoops rekindle interest in Greek ‘keeper

Celtic have rekindled their interest in AEK Athens goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas as they look to plug the gap left by the failure to secure a return for Fraser Forster. Greek international Barkas was part of the AEK team that knocked Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic side out of the Champions League qualifiers in 2018 and is one of three ‘keepers – along with Vaclav Hladky and David Marshall – who have been linked with a move to Parkhead. Barkas could cost Celtic in the region of £5 million. (The Sun)

Gary McAllister insists Rangers’ priority concerning Alfredo Morelos is getting the striker “up to speed” for the start of the season amid further speculation about his future. Everton are the latest club to be linked with the Colombian and manager Steven Gerrard admitted last week that he did not know if Rangers would be able to hold on to the player this summer. However, all Rangers are currently focusing on is getting the player in peak physical condition with the new league season set to start in under a month, according to McAllister. (The Scotsman)

Hibs defender likened to Liverpool ace

Hibs defender Josh Doig has been compared to Liverpool defender and Scotland captain Andy Robertson by Queen’s Park boss Ray McKinnon. Doig spent part of last season on loan at the Spiders and impressed at left-back for the League Two side. Now McKinnon says the teenager has all the attributes to be a success. He said: “He was absolutely unbelievable for us last season. He must have got man of the match in three or four games. His athleticism, he was up and down, he was brilliant and everybody was making comparisons with Andy Robertson.” (Evening News)

Premiership fixtures to be announced

The 12 Scottish Premiership clubs are set to find out their fixtures for the 2020/21 campaign on Monday. The SPFL’s secretary Iain Blair is planning to release the fixture list at 9am, having previously suggested they could be released at the end of this week. It is yet another step forward towards the start of next season, despite the ongoing legal battle between Hearts and Partick Thistle and the SPFL. (The Scotsman)

Hearts challenging Motherwell for Rangers attacker

Hearts have launched a bid to take Jake Hastie on loan from Rangers next season, challenging the player’s former club Motherwell, who are keen on doing a temporary deal for their former midfielder. Robbie Neilson is keen to bolster his squad for next season and sees Hastie as a strong addition. However, there is interest from English clubs as well while Motherwell remain confident in their chances of landing the player. (The Sun)
