Rangers eye Roofe swoop

Rangers are eyeing a move for Kemar Roofe – but their wish to loan the attacker with an option to buy for £6 million doesn’t appear to suit Anderlecht, who have knocked back an initial offer as they would rather sell the former Leeds man for cash outright. The Ibrox side have identified the 27-year-old as a target if Alfredo Morelos is sold this summer. Roofe has netted six times in 13 games for the Belgians following his move from Elland Road. Celtic ‘could bring Marshall back’

Celtic have been linked with a shock return move for former goalkeeper David Marshall. The veteran shot-stopper is currently with Wigan and has a year left on his contract, and the Hoops are reported to have considered the Scotland international and former Manchester City No.1 Joe Hart. However, Fraser Forster is understood to be the priority. (Daily Mail)

Alfredo Morelos has reportedly rejected the chance to move to Qatar with league-leaders Al Duhail. The club has already agreed deals for former Juventus striker Mario Mandzukic and ex-Bayern Munich defender Mehdi Benatia.

But the Colombian international will not be joining the Red Knights, according to reports. (Daily Mail)

Gordon cup boost for Hearts

New Hearts signing Craig Gordon is eligible to play for the club in the Scottish Cup semi-final against Hibs – and in the final should they progress. Gordon was an unused substitute in Celtic’s fourth-round tie against Partick Thistle in January and is free to play in the remainder of the competition for Hearts. The Scottish Football Association suspended some eligibility rules for cup ties after the 2019/20 Scottish Cup semi-finals and final were postponed due to the coronavirus shutdown. (Evening News)

Whittaker joins Pars

Former Hibs player Steven Whittaker has signed for Dunfermline Athletic. The versatile 36-year-old was released by the Easter Road club upon the expiry of his contract last month, but Pars manager Stevie Crawford has moved swiftly to sign him for the 2020/21 campaign. Whittaker – capped 31 times by Scotland - will double up as a coach with the East End Park outfit and has penned a one-year-contract. (Evening News)

Gers linked with ‘keeper

Rangers have been credited with an interest in FC Cuckaricki goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic – but face competition from Nice, Paris FC, Getafe, Anderlecht and Mechelen for the Serbian shot-stopper. The Gers have already signed Scotland international ‘keeper Jon McLaughlin and have three other goalies on the books in Allan McGregor, Robby McCrorie and Andy Firth. (FootMercato)
