The Frenchman also moved to reassure supporters who were concerned for his well-being, saying he was “fine” and eager to “come back stronger”.

The striker tweeted: “Thank you all for your messages of support! I'm fine and I would come back stronger, take care of yourself and your family.”

Edouard tested positive after joining up with the France under-21 squad for the international break. Celtic later confirmed his diagnosis in a statement while insisting that no other first-team member had contracted the virus.

It is yet unknown whether he’ll be available to face Rangers when the first Old Firm clash of the season takes place on October 17.

Positive tests require ten days in isolation, which would mean Edouard would be available in time, but Celtic are seeking clarification from the Scottish Government as to whether the player, returning from France, will have to do a full 14-day quarantine.
