Here’s what the fans had to say on social media:

@indy_kenny: “Lennon needs sacked. IMMEDIATELY.”

@TheTweetofShaun: “He's putting his ego above the best interests of the club. Get him out. No longer a Celtic legend.”

@allthatchas: “Announce mutual consent.”

@Fitzp89C: “Thanks for your service Neil but the players have let you down again and aren’t reacting for you. That was the worst one yet. worse than the county game. I’ve no idea why you set up without two strikers but it’s cost you your job. If something doesn’t give now the seasons up.”

@MMAandCeltic: “League over before Xmas. Playing a 3-6-1 at home constantly will do that. Lennon has tarnished his status by not walking away before now and relying on an inept board to keep him in the role. I said weeks ago he had to go if he loved the club and that hasn't changed.”

@TheJinkIsBack: “The lack of passion, pride, work ethic, desire, hunger is beyond the pale. Since March there's been an abandonment of all professionalism. Players are unfit & unwilling to improve. Thus, letting the fans down. Lennon is complicit in this downfall & the board are facilitating it.”

@Andy86Glancy: “The celtic fans must clear the manager and the board! 10 is over, done! And although across the city they are playing well. We have also handed them this league! Lennon should have been out a job weeks ago!”

@MarkCochrane67: “It's gone beyond the joke now. Lennon isn't good enough but it's definitely the boards fault now. They should have sacked him months ago, not weeks, months. May aswell keep him now to appease all the dogooders who thought Lennon deserved soo much more.”

@CraigJShields: “Shocking. Just go. Time to forget about ten and build for the longer term; start with the first-team coaching setup then we root and branch the rest all the way to the top.”

@BigDee02457519: “There are no positives in this performance. Every game this manager is in control the downward spiral continues. If he loves Celtic, give someone else a chance and step aside. It's already too late and every week brings more embarrassment and damage to our club.”
