Boss Gary Bowyer will leave skybet League Two to return to Derby County after the Rams narrowly avoided relegation from the Championship under Wayne Rooney.

And that has created a vacancy at the club, owned by Project 92 Ltd – the group formed by ex-Manchester United players David Beckham, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Phil and Gary Neville.

Their former team-mate Roy Keane, also linked with the vacant role at Celtic, is listed as 10/1 by bookmakers BetVictor – and ex-Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes is the same price. He had a spell in the English Championship with Bristol City before joining the Dons in 2013.

Neil Lennon is also among the market options, priced at 14/1 but the current favourite is Scottish boss Alex Neil, who left Preston North End in March, and is priced 4/1.
