• Nani has fallen out of favour over wage demands.

Nani has rarely made an appearance at Old Trafford this season since the summer’s wage row, but interest from big clubs throughout Europe is sure to follow as Ferguson looks to sell the 26-year-old.

The funds from his sale would the be used to help fund the signings of Wanyama and Rodriguez.

It is thought that Ferguson will make an attempt to swoop for Celtic midfielder Wanyama during the January transfer window as the Kenyan’s impressive form has been crucial to the Glasgow club’s success, including the recent Champions’ League win over Barcelona.

In October Celtic manager Neil Lennon famously put a £25m price tag on the 21-year-old, though he is reportedly unlikely to sell the star unless he gets the right offer. The Hoops boss has been quoted as saying that he feels no pressure to sell Wanyama.

United scouts are also understood to be watching Porto FC’s Colombian winger Rodriguez, who has found the net on numerous occasions for the Portuguese club.
