Reports have emerged suggesting Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp is weighing up a move for the 25-year-old ahead of Monday's transfer deadline in an attempt to address problems in defence following injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Fabinho.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has been keen to get a deal brokered for the left-sided defender in the January window after losing Christopher Jullien to a knee injury and seeing right-back Jeremie Frimpong sold to Bayer Leverkusen.
