Zenden lined up for short-term Parkhead deal

Celtic are considering a move for the veteran Dutch international Boudewijn Zenden. The Parkhead club are seeking an agreement with the left-sided player so he can train with them this week. If all goes well they will consider offering the 35-year-old a short-term deal.

Zenden is vastly experienced and boasts a cv which includes spells at PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona, Chelsea and Liverpool. He has been capped more than 50 times by Holland, helping them reach the semi-finals of the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000.

He is a free agent after leaving Sunderland at the end of last season and could offer a temporary solution to Celtic’s left-back problem. Although more accustomed to playing further forward, Zenden has experience of playing as a left wing back, notably during his time at Barcelona.
