McCoist welcomes SFL support in EBT case

Rangers manager Ally McCoist has praised the support given to the Ibrox club from the SFL following reports that league bosses refused to take part in a plan that would have seen the club stripped of titles in return for being parachuted into Division One.

An independent SPL appointed commission is due to sit in November and will rule on whether dual contracts were in use.

One sanction open to the panel is the stripping of SPL titles win by Rangers. (Scotsman)

McCoist issues rallying call ahead of Motherwell clash

Rangers manager Ally McCoist says his players will have to be at their best if they are to overcome Motherwell in their League Cup clash on Wednesday night.

Celtic fans unveil new zombie banner

Celtic supporters unveiled a “Justice for Zombies” banner during their match against Dundee on Saturday in response to the SFA starting proceedings against the club for a banner unveiled during their pre-season home friendly against Norwich in July.

The banner depicted the de-evolution, death, rise from the grave and zombification of Rangers. The banner caused controversy due a gunman pictured at the end shooting the zombie.

The SFA will consider whether the banner breached association rules.

McGeouch keen to kick-start Celtic career

Parkhead youngster Dylan MCGeouch says he is keen to reassert himself in the Celtic first team after recovering from a broken jaw suffered when his side played Real Madrid in Philadelphia.

The 19-year-old made his comeback appearance on Saturday during Neil Lennon’s side 2 - 0 victory over Dundee.

He is in contention for a starting place when Celtic take on Raith Rovers in the League Cup. (Express)

Atlantic League back under discussion

Representatives from the SFA, SPL and SFL will meet this week to discuss how the game can be reorganised at every level.

The panel is expected to discuss the possibility of an Atlantic League after UEFA agreed to a joint Dutch and Belgian womens’ league. (Express)
