Rangers takeover latest

• Brian Kennedy has made an “improved offer” for Rangers after holding informal talks with adminstrators Duff & Phelps. A source close to Duff & Phelps said: “Brian Kennedy has spoken to the administrators with a view to making a proposal. He is back in the frame.” (Various)

• Paul Murray could also return to the table, after Kennedy revealed he had been in contact with the former Rangers director. The Sale Sharks owner said: “As far as I am aware, they only have two credible bids on the table. Let’s choose Paul Murray and the Blue Knights or myself and get on with the job of saving Rangers.” (Record)

• Andy Little fears his Rangers career could be over at the end of the season as a result of the club’s financial problems. Little told RangersTV: “If the club is in a position where it is out of administration and able to offer me a contract then great, but I’m also aware that might not be the case.”

Scots in frame for Team GB

Team GB football manager Stuart Pearce has cut his squad for the Olympic Games from 191 to 80 names, and Steven Fletcher, James Forrest, Barry Bannan and David Goodwillie are thought to be among the Scots who remain on the list. (Scotsman)

Lennon to learn punishment

Neil Lennon will try to avoid receiving a touchline ban of at least seven games at Hampden today when he contests the first two of a lengthening list of SFA disciplinary charges against him. The Celtic manager will face a three-man Judicial Panel who will consider his alleged rule breaches relating to the League Cup final against Kilmarnock and the Old Firm fixture at Ibrox last month.
