Rangers: Dave King warns of ‘critical’ funds

DAVE King, the South Africa-based businessman linked with an investment in Rangers, has warned that the club’s funds are at a “critical level”.

King told The Sun that he has had no contact with Rangers executives in the two months since he suggested that he would be prepared to put money into the club.

King said: “If a sensible business and financial plan has been completed then Rangers may have gone forward, but there has been no communication of this. Clearly, the passage of time since the AGM has reduced the cash reserves to a critical level.” (Sun)

Stokes puzzled by Celtic cup struggles

CELTIC striker Anthony Stokes has admitted that he has no answer for his side’s poor form in cup competitions.

Stokes said: “I really don’t know what it is. Listen, we’ve done well in the league but cup games have been different. We certainly don’t treat them any different.

We prepare for them exactly the same as we do for the league. But if I could put my finger on what is going wrong for us in the cups I would tell you – and then I would let the gaffer know too.” (Scotsman)

McCoist happy with ‘brilliant’ Cup draw

RANGERS manager Ally McCoist has warned his team not to be complacent after the League One leaders were given a home quarter-final against Albion Rovers in the Scottish Cup, with the prospect of a semi-final at Ibrox to follow.

McCoist said: “We are playing for effectively a home tie in which we’d have a chance to get to the final… but we’ll treat Albion with the respect they deserve.”

Hibs’ Craig brands Cup loss ‘a disgrace’

LIAM Craig has described Hibernian’s 3-2 defeat to Raith Rovers in the Scottish Cup as a “disgrace”.

Craig said: “We didn’t keep the ball or stamp our authority on the game so we won’t win football games like that whether you’re playing against a team from the Championship or the Premiership.

“We’re not good enough just to turn up and expect to win. It was a disgrace, really. The fans deserve a lot better.” (Scotsman)

United’s Gauld says Scottish Cup wide open

TEENAGE star Ryan Gauld believes that the Scottish Cup is there for the taking, as his Dundee United side face a tricky away tie in the quarter-finals.

Gauld said: “Anyone can win this if they’re on their game on the day. Just like the League Cup was, it is now wide open with Celtic out.

“Whoever we face in the quarter-finals - Stranraer or Inverness - it will be a hard game for us.” (Record)

Stenny linked with Laszlo

FORMER Hearts boss Csaba Laszlo is set to meet with Stenhousemuir bosses over the manager’s job at Ochilview.

Laszlo will interview for the job tomorrow, with the 49-year-old among the frontrunners for the job.

Laszlo led Hearts to a third-place finish in the SPL in 2008-2009, and managed the Lithuanian national team until last September. (Scotsman)
