Rangers set to sign Maciej Gostomski

Free agent Maciej Gostomski is set to pen a six-month deal with Rangers later today.

The 27-year-old goalkeeper, formerly of Lech Poznan, arrived in Glasgow on Saturday evening reportedly telling the Sunday Mail that he had decided to sign with Rangers.

He said: “I had options but this is a great opportunity and with my experience I think I can bring something to Rangers.” (Sunday Mail)

‘Fewer Old Firm matches better for Scottish game’

Mark Warburton has said he would be prepared to sacrifice two Old Firm games a season for the good of the Scottish game.

He said he was anxious to savour a clash with Celtic after 50,000 fans crammed into Ibrox for Saturday’s 4 - 2 win over Hibs.

He added he would prefer it to be the first of two – as opposed to four – Old Firm fixtures, claiming that the Scottish game would benefit from less of an emphasis on its two biggest clubs. Scotland on Sunday

Deila: Nir Bitton dismissal ‘a bit stupid’

Celtic boss Ronny Deila has branded Nir Bitton’s red carding against Partick Thistle as ‘a bit stupid’.

Bitton was booked for a foul on Stuart Brannigan and later a late barge on Gary Miller.

Deila maintained it shouldn’t have been a red card before conceding: “...it was also a little bit stupid because there was an incidence before that.

“I think it was inexperience and something he needs to learn from.” (STV)

Leigh Griffiths: I bailed out Deila with late goal

Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has reportedly said he bailed out manager Ronny Deila with his late winner against Partick Thistle.

Griffiths said: ““I never saw him celebrating but I think he was the one breathing a huge sigh of relief. We hadn’t won here since Halloween.” (Scottish Sun on Sunday)

James McPake ‘out for the season’

Dundee’s James McPake is facing being out of action for the rest of the season after dislocating his knee in a tackle from United’s John Rankin.

McPake was stretchered off just ten minutes into the Tayside derby on Saturday. He will now have an MRI scan on his injured knee on Monday to determine the extent of his his injuries. (BBC)

Aberdeen should be claiming silverware, says Derek McInnes

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has insisted that his side will be claiming silverware in 2016.

Having been knocked out of the League Cup by Hibs, the Dons now have their sights on the Ladbrokes Premiership and the Scottish Cup.

McInnes was goaded this week by Ronny Deila who said the Aberdeen boss was failing to show any ambition of topping the Premiership.

McInnes said: “For me, it’s about winning silverware and hopefully we can look back on 2016 with something to show for it as well as the level of consistency.” (Sunday Herald)
