McCulloch: ‘Ramsdens loss worse than administration’

RANGERS captain Lee McCulloch has claimed that his side’s Ramsdens Cup defeat to Raith Rovers was worse than the club’s descent into administration and liquidation.

McCulloch said: “It was the lowest point in my football career. And I’m factoring in administration. The lot.

“The players obviously owe the manager for the support he has shown us... since the club went into administration.” (Various)

Griffiths hit with SFA race rap

CELTIC striker Leigh Griffiths has been charged by the Scottish Football Association with “singing in public a song of an offensive, racist and/or discriminatory nature”.

Last week, Griffiths was charged with not acting in the best interests of football by “singing about Hearts in administration”.

New footage has since emerged, appearing to show the Scotland international singing in a pub with Hibernian fans as they chanted a derogatory song describing former Hearts player Rudi Skacel as a “refugee”. (Scotsman)

Lennon has eye on ‘little gems’

CELTIC manager Neil Lennon has revealed he has begun scouting for replacements for some of his most sought-after players.

Lennon said: “There will be suitors for a couple of our big players, and one or two are coming out of contract, so you’d have to expect they’d be leaving.”

Lennon added: “We’re already looking at a few players we like... but whether we can keep on unearthing little gems, or big gems, is another matter.” (Mail)

Hibs ‘in relegation trouble’ - Harris

ALEX Harris believes his Hibernian side have been drawn into the relegation play-off battle, but that they have enough ability to make their way out of danger.

Harris said: “We just need to accept we are in a relegation fight and grow up and make sure we aren’t there on the last day of the season.

“There is pressure because the fans are getting on our backs and rightly so because we’re not picking up results. But we know we can get out of trouble.” (Scotsman)

Dailly backs United to beat Rangers

FORMER Dundee United and Rangers centre-back Christian Dailly has predicted a win for United when the two sides meet in the Scottish Cup semi-finals this weekend.

Dailly said: “I do think United will win this weekend. Still, I find Saturday’s game difficult to say and it’ll be interesting to see how it pans out.

He added: “Most people seem to think that if United play well they could win it convincingly but it doesn’t always work like that. Rangers will be dangerous.” (Record)

Parkhead to get new Dutch pitch

THE playing surface at Celtic Park will be relaid after the Commonwealth Games - with grass grown in the Netherlands.

Parkhead will host the opening ceremony for the Glasgow Games, with the club moving the stadium’s current pitch to their Lennoxtown training base.

The new surface, similar to those used by Ajax and Real Madrid, has been described as “quick” and able to “repair itself”. (Sun)
