Daly’s respect for McCoist - as both man and coach

While Ally McCoist’s future as Rangers manager remains in the balance, striker Jon Daly has come out to support embattled McCoist in no uncertain terms. He said he respects him following his compassionate leave from the club following the death of the players father, which say McCoist also travelling to Dublin to attend the funeral. •Lewis Macleod’s agent has suggested that clubs are plotting a £2 million bid for the Rangers star next month despite a hamstring injury picked up during the mid-week defeat to Alloa leaving him. Van Der Gaag impresses at Motherwell manager interview

Mitchell Van Der Gaag emerged as a shock frontrunner for the top post at Motherwell on Saturday night having been interview for the job earlier this week. It is understood the Dutchman impressed the board during a three-hour interview on Friday. Terry Butcher, Maaskant, Kenny Shiels and caretaker gaffer Kenny Black are also understood to be the frame with a sixth unknown name to be interviewed on Monday. (Sun on Sunday)

Deila looking to Scandinavia for recruits

Celtic manager Ronny Deila has said he is preparing to target more Scandinavian players to join the Glasgow side as they apparently settle more quickly than players from other countries. During his tenure so far, he has already signed fellow Norwegian Jo Inge Berget and Swedish striker John Guidetti on loan.

He said: “I have very good contacts in Norway, of course! I have good contacts in Sweden and Denmark too. It is a market that could be interesting.” (Sunday Mail)

Scepovic keen to prove himself at Celtic

As the only player bought by a Scottish club over the summer, Celtic’s Stefan Scepovic is keen to live up to the £2.3 million price tag despite a disappointing start to his first season with the Hoops.

Manager Ronny Deila has insisted that Scepovic will not be allowed to go on loan when the transfer window opens in January.

Alex Neil failed to turn up to the post-match debrief

Hamilton boss Alex Neil was apparently too angry at referee Brian Colvin to appear at the post-match debrief at Pittodie after his side were crushed 3-0 by the Dons. He instead sent assistant Frankie McAvoy instead to avoid further trouble.
