Guidetti ‘on Feyenoord’s transfer list’

FEYENOORD have confirmed that they are eyeing a move for John Guidetti in the summer, with the Dutch side keen to pair the Swede up front with ex-Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt.

The Eredivisie outfit’s technical director has also admitted he travelled to Scotland to pursue a deal for Guidetti, describing him and Kuyt as ‘very serious options’.

Guidetti was a hit at De Kuip during the 2011/12 season, scoring 20 goals in 23 matches.

And despite Celtic maintaining an interest in the Manchester City striker, he is believed to be keeping his options open and could return to the Netherlands in the summer. (Inside Futbol)

Celtic take step closer to treble

GOALS from Kris Commons and James Forrest handed Ronny Deila his first trophy as Celtic manager - but he ordered a midnight curfew and expressed disappointment at John Guidetti and James Forrest bickering over who should take a second-half penalty, which the latter missed.

He told the Express: “It looks like it was the first to the ball but I don’t like that they argue about that. It is stupid. That is not the team spirit I want. We have to learn from the situation.”

Celtic took the lead through Kris Commons, with James Forrest doubling the Hoops’ lead and ensuring the cup returned to Parkhead for the first time in six years.

The two teams will play again in Wednesday night’s Scottish Cup quarter final replay. (Various)

Dillon bemoans lack of decisions

RED-carded Dundee United defender Sean Dillon has claimed Celtic got the big decisions in the League Cup final.

Dillon, who was ordered off just 11 minutes into the second half, felt United should have had a penalty when Ryan Dow went down in the box under pressure from Scott Brown, but referee Bobby Madden waved away the claims.

Celtic were then awarded a penalty late in the second half which James Forrest missed, but Dillon felt the damage was already done.

He told STV: “The lads were saying at half-time that they felt it was a penalty, certainly Dowser felt it was a penalty.

“They got big decisions - we’re looking for a penalty and we don’t get it, they’re looking for a penalty and they do.

“We need to move on now, it’s done and we can’t change anything.” (STV)

McNamara unhappy with referee

DUNDEE United boss Jackie McNamara has admitted he ‘wasn’t happy’ with a lot of the decisions made during Sunday’s League Cup final.

McNamara was frustrated at Celtic’s first goal coming as Sean Dillon was off the field receiving treatment, and felt the two penalty incidents were very similar.

He told BBC Scotland: “A lot of the decisions I wasn’t happy with today, as you can imagine. A lot of things went against us today, a lot of inconsistencies, shall we say.

“If you compare the two penalties, I don’t think there’s much difference.” (BBC Scotland)

Dalglish warns Rangers not to blame off-field chaos

KENNY Dalglish has warned Rangers players to take a look at themselves - and start to show some self-respect.

New manager Stuart McCall saw the Ibrox side stutter to a 1-1 draw by Championship basement club Livingston.

But Dalglish claims the players are to blame, not management, as the Gers languish in third place, seven points behind second-placed Hibs and with Hearts out of sight in first.

And Queen of the South and Falkirk are making ground on the Light Blues from fourth and fifth.

Dalglish said: “Stuart will now know what he’s let himself in for but it shouldn’t matter who the manager is. Whether you like or dislike the guy in charge surely you have some respect for yourself.

“I’d like to think if you’re a professional footballer then the least you do is go out and try to do your best in the preparation and in the match. That has to be a minimum requirement.” (Daily Record)

Scott Allan fires warning to Rangers

HIBS midfielder Scott Allan has warned Rangers that the Easter Road side are brimming with confidence ahead of the crunch match this Sunday.

Hibs - seven points clear in the race for second - beat Cowdenbeath 2-0 at Central Park on Saturday, while Rangers were held to a 1-1 draw by Livingston.

And Allan is confident of Hibs securing a fourth league win over the Ibrox side.

He said: “The Rangers game is just another game for us and if we keep playing the way we’ve been playing, I’m sure we can pick up three points again.

“We look really confident and they’re just looking for a win, so we’re definitely the team on the up just now. There’s a real winning mentality here and hopefully we can build on that.” (Evening News)

Neilson hails impact of Billy King

ROBBIE Neilson has hailed the impact of Billy King after the winger came on as a substitute and netted a brace in Saturday’s 4-0 win over Dumbarton.

King - dropped after starting the 10-0 demolition of Cowdenbeath - climbed off the bench and set up Danny Wilson for the second goal, before scoring the third and fourth.

And Neilson said: “It’s not that I leave him out and that’s it. We’ve got Walker, Nicholson, King, Anderson and El Hassnaoui who can all play in those positions.

“Billy’s been doing fantastically well for us and he’s played a lot of matches. I’ve rotated it and give him a rest and he comes on at the weekend and does that, which is great.” (Evening News)
