Hearts could move to Murrayfield for a season as Tynecastle is upgraded

Hearts could be set for a season-long stay at Murrayfield while Tynecastle is given a much-needed major upgrade.

The Main Stand - which is more than 100 years old - is in constant need of maintenance and repair, but is also home to many of the club’s hospitality suites and is an important source of revenue.

Anne Budge has stated her desire to stay at Gorgie Road rather than build a new stadium so a move to Murrayfield could be on the cards. (Express)

Arsenal to battle Celtic for Dundee United kid John Souttar

Arsenal have reportedly joined the race for Dundee United defender John Souttar.

Unsurprisingly, having swooped to sign Stuart Armstrong and Gary Mackay-Steven from Dundee United in January, Celtic are now looking to sign Souttar too, according to the Daily Mail.

Now though, The Sun report that Arsenal have joined the race for his signature, with Gunners scout and ex-Leeds boss Brian McDermott allegedly scouting him against St. Johnstone on Saturday. (Sun)

Spurs join race for Virgil Van Dijk

Tottenham have entered the race to land Celtic’s highly rated Dutch central defender Virgil van Dijk who is valued at around £10million.

Premier League sides Sunderland, Everton and Southampton have all shown an interest in the signing the 23 year-old in the last few weeks.

North London rivals Arsenal have also had their scouts checking out van Dijk who was persuaded to turn down a move South of the border last summer.

Stuart McCall has warned next week’s Ibrox officials to be on the look out for Queen of the South’s ‘dirty tricks’. McCall revealed that defender Richard Foster had informed referee Alan Muir about the hosts’ illegal blocking and ‘rugby tackle’ tactics at corners early in the game. McCall also called foul on Derek Lyle’s equaliser. He said: “We made officials aware - Queen of the South do it really well - they bear hug. It was a blatant foul. Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has been voted SPFL Player of the Month for April

Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has been voted SPFL Player of the Month for April after scoring seven goals last month.

Griffiths told the Celtic website: “Since the turn of the year I’ve hit a good run of form and people are seeing the real Leigh Griffiths that was at Hibs a couple of seasons ago and was scoring goals for fun in the Premier League.

“My goals-to-games ratio is now up there with the best. It’s a good stat and it was great to score a hat-trick on my 50th appearance.” (Various)
