Beattie frustrated after Rangers deal collapses

Craig Beattie has voiced his frustration after his hopes of signing for Rangers were extinguished. The former Hearts and Celtic striker denied holding out for more money and said he wanted to join the Third Division club to be “a part of something big”. He also claimed that Ibrox manager Ally McCoist wanted his signature but chief executive Charles Green pulled the plug on the deal: “I spoke to Ally and was under the impression he really wanted me on board and that excited me. But in the end, it became obvious he and Green were not on the same wavelength.” (Record)

SFL chief executive David Longmuir confirmed that he was “comfortable” with the stance they have chosen to adopt, which is that Rangers’ history remains intact whether they are found guilty or not.
