Dave King headed for UK and Rangers talks

SOUTH Africa-based businessman Dave King will fly into the UK later this week, and looks set for talks aimed at sparking boardroom change at Rangers.

King told the Mail that he expects to visit Glasgow on Friday, and added that “a lot is possible… depending on the resolve of the fans.”

King, a former Rangers director, has called for fans to put off buying season tickets for 2014/15 until changes are made at the club. (Mail)

Celtic’s Forster ‘just like Schmeichel’

FRASER Forster should be in the England squad according to former Scotland goalie coach Alan Hodgkinson, who says the stopper reminds him of Manchester United great Peter Schmeichel.

Hodgkinson said: “Fraser’s the same (as Schmeichel), he’s a huge figure in the goal and that’s a big part of the game today.

“If he isn’t selected for the World Cup squad I just hope it’s a decision made on ability and nothing else… Fraser is playing in the Champions League… in high-pressure games on a regular basis.” (Sun)

Albion Rovers v Rangers: McCoist ‘not embarrassed’

RANGERS manager Ally McCoist insists that he feels no embarrassment at narrowly avoiding a Scottish Cup defeat at home to League Two’s Albion Rovers.

McCoist said: “They’ve already put a Premiership side, Motherwell, out this season so I’m certainly not going to use the word embarrassment.

“I have to say I’m relieved we’re still in the Cup. We kept going and eventually got the break that brought us an equaliser.” (Record)

League Cup final: Hughes to risk red card appeals

INVERNESS Caley manager John Hughes is set to appeal the red cards given to Greg Tansey and Marley Watkins - but losing the bid could see the pair ruled out of the League Cup final.

Tansey and Watkins were sent off as Thistle were crushed 5-0 by Dundee United, and will miss the midweek clash with Hibernian. Their red cards could be rescinded on appeal leaving them free to play, but if the appeal fails they could miss this weekend’s Celtic Park showpiece.

Hearts ‘won’t go down without fight’ says Stevenson

RYAN Stevenson says Hearts will continue their fight for Premiership survival to the bitter end.

The Gorgie side are 20 points behind Ross County with nine games to go, but attacker Stevenson believes his teammates will keep battling until they are officially relegated.

He said: “The biggest thing for us as players is that we don’t go down and just accept it. After everything the club has been through, it would be poor of us to do that.” (Express)

Hibs’ Nelson wants 1-0s in the future

HIBERNIAN defender Michael Nelson has admitted that he would rather see his side win dull 1-0 games than be involved in end-to-end battles like their game with Motherwell.

Hibs drew 3-3 with the Steelmen on Saturday, and Nelson admitted that the situation is far from ideal. Nelson said: “The fans would have probably gone home happier if it had been 1-0, even if it was an absolutely awful win.

“It doesn’t matter what the scoreline is as long as you get the three points. I’d take a boring 1-0 win every day of the week rather than a game like this.” (Scotsman)
