Rogne desperate to commit his future to Hoops

THOMAS Rogne last night savoured Celtic’s title win, then revealed he is desperate to commit his future to the new SPL champions.

The Norwegian defender missed Celtic’s title-clinching 6-0 party at Kilmarnock, but has been a huge hit this season with the Hoops losing just two of the 13 starts they have made with him in the team this term.

Rogne said: “I feel very good at Celtic and my agent is in talks with the club about a new contract. I hope that resolves itself very soon because I want to stay here.

“It felt so great to win the title and the reception when we got back to Parkhead was incredible. There were thousands of fans to greet us.

“It’s important for us to keep going because we have some important games before the end of the season and we want to win the Scottish Cup. I really believe we can make an impact in Europe next season, too.”

Meanwhile, Rogne thinks he will be fit for next week’s Scottish Cup semi-final showdown with Hearts.

He said: “I suffered a small strain, but I think I should be okay for next week. It was unfortunate I wasn’t fit for Kilmarnock because it was an incredible atmosphere.

“This is probably the greatest thing that’s happened to me in my career. It feels great to be rewarded with a winners’ medal. It wasn’t easy, but it has been a really memorable season.”
