match trouble

A number of Celtic fans were involved in “skirmishes” with opposition supporters in Spain on Thursday night.

The Foreign Office confirmed trouble broke out on the streets of Madrid before the Parkhead club’s Europa Cup tie with Atletico.

A spokesman said the fighting was quickly broken up by police. One Celtic fan was taken to hospital – later released – and one Scots fan was arrested. It is not known if these incidents were linked to the disorder.
