The Swede made a stunning start to life at Parkhead after netting 11 times in just 12 games.

But the goals have dried up and the on-loan Manchester City striker has now failed to score in any of his last six domestic outings.

However, Guidetti insists he is still brimming with confidence and backed himself to become the first Hoops marksman to to grab a treble against their Glasgow rivals since Harry Hood did the same back in 1973 when they face in the League Cup semi-final on February 1.

Asked if he fancied himself for a goal at Hampden, the 22-year-old told several newspapers: “I fancy three. That is what I did against Ajax when I was with Feyenoord and that is the aim this time.

“The dream would be to score - but the most important thing is we win against Rangers. Big games are what I love the most. That is why I wake up in the morning.”

Guidetti limped out of Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to PSV Eindhoven in Gran Canaria with a dead leg but he has no worries about his recent scoring drought.

He said: “My confidence is fantastic. The best strikers in the world can go 16 or 17 games without a goal. People want to make a massive thing about going six games without a goal.

“It’s not a massive thing for me. Diego Costa went four games without a goal a few weeks ago and no one mentioned it - but when John Guidetti does the same it’s the biggest thing in the world.

“I take it as a compliment. People think if I don’t score then something must be wrong in the world. But let’s be honest, with a bit of luck I could have scored eight goals in those six games. It happens.

“I had a bicycle kick that I scored but was ruled out when it wasn’t offside. Once they start coming, they will come thick and fast, I know it.”
