Celtic set to sign new midfielder as transfer details emerge for latest arrival
Parma midfielder on brink of making switch from Serie A to Parkhead
Celtic are set to bolster their midfield options with the signing of Dane Oliver Sorensen on loan from Parma.
Danish media outlet Tipsbladet reported on Monday morning that Sorensen had agreed a move to the Scottish champions and The Scotsman understands that Celtic are closing in on completing the deal.
Sorensen, 24, was a mainstay for Serie A outfit Parma last season, making 34 appearances for the club after moving from Midtjylland in his homeland last summer. However, he has not featured under head coach Carlos Cuesta this term and has been made available for transfer.

Celtic are in the market for midfielders after selling Arne Engels to West Ham earlier this month, with a departure for Reo Hatate also on the cards before the transfer window closes on Thursday at 5pm.
Celtic want to get the vast majority of their business done by Wednesday night due to the deadline for registering their Europa League squad and as well as Sorensen, they are closing in on PSV Eindhoven’s 19-year-old midfielder Joel van den Berg. It is reported that a fee of £3.4 million has been agreed for the 19-year-old Dutchman.
Sorensen came through the youth ranks at Midtjylland, one of Denmark’s top clubs, and played against Hibs last season before moving to Parma in August for a fee in the region of £8m.
Capped 15 times by Denmark Under-21s, he scored six goals at that level but has yet to break into the senior national team.
Sorensen was a goalscoring midfielder while at Midtjylland, but only managed one strike for Parma last term. He is a dynamic left-footed player who can operate as a No 8 and is likely to be a replacement for Engels, who also filled that profile as a box-to-box midfielder.
Celtic have been linked with a number of central midfielders over the past months and have been interested in Torino’s Gvidas Gineitis, who played at the weekend for his Italian club in a 2-1 defeat by Sassuolo.
Celtic are also in the market for a new left-back to act as back-up to Kieran Tierney and are also mulling over goalkeeping options to compete with current No 1 Viljami Sinisalo.
