Beram Kayal out for four months

CELTIC midfielder Beram Kayal may not play again this season after learning he is due to undergo ankle surgery.

The club have confirmed that the Israeli midfielder is to have an operation on his ankle on Monday. Kayal was stretchered off following a heavy challenge from Lee McCulloch in the Old Firm derby match on December 28 of last year. Scans showed that Kayal had sustained ligament damage, and was expected to be out for a minimum of four weeks.

Kayal, who joined Celtic in the summer of 2010, suffered a hernia injury in September of the same year, sidelining him for three months. In May 2011, in a match against Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Kayal was taken off with suspected concussion following a collision with Ross Tokely, fracturing his wrist at the same time.
