Jonjoe Kenny set to sign for Celtic on loan from Everton

The former England Under 21 defender has attracted interest from Burnley but is expected to join the Scottish champions after agreeing a deal.

The right-back, who spent last year on loan at Schalke, has 30 Premier League appearance to his name but has only featured once in the top flight this season under Carlo Ancelotti.

Kenny will fill the void left at Parkhead by the departure of Jeremie Frimpong, who was sold to Bayer Leverkusen last week, and could make his Celtic debut at Kilmarnock on Tuesday.

The move comes as Liverpool look set to hijack Celtic’s bid to land Preston North End centre-half Ben Davies.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon had hoped a deal could be agreed with the 24-year-old's contract due to expire in the summer, but widespread reports claim the English champions have made a shock move to sign the centre-back ahead of Monday night's deadline.
