Celtic legend John Collins hailed the performance of Tom Rogic as his "best of the season" after the 4-0 win over St Mirren.

Rogic opened the scoring with a neat turn and finish after 16 minutes but it was the overall contribution of the Australian midfielder in Paisley that earned the praise of the former Parkhead star.

"For me it was his best performance of the season," Collins told Sky Sports. "Straight from the kick-off he looked hungry, fit, sharp. He looked like he wanted the ball at his feet, wanting to prove things. Winning the ball back, turning, getting forward – Tom Rogic at this best.

"It wasn't just now and again, it was throughout the whole game. All-round a good, first class performance and what the Celtic fans need to see week in, week out from Tom."

Fellow Sky Sports pundit James McFadden was also impressed with Rogic, who scored his 40th goal for the club but only his second of the current campaign.

"He always plays with a freedom, he's got that style, but he looked like he had a real energy and desire to go and track back, win the ball and drive forward," he said.

"Pass and move and not just wait for the ball to arrive at him. He looked really sharp and fit. It's the fittest I've seen him ... and he kept going.

"When you've got a player of that quality that's willing to put the work in – because when you play in a diamond you have to put the work in – then you're onto a winner."
