Celtic rejected a £4 million bid from Hull for Hooper, who has been tracked by a host of English sides.

However, the newly-promoted Barclays Premier League club are said to have turned their attention to Austin, who they are hoping to land for around £4 million.

Both Austin and Hooper are in the final year of their contracts, but Hooper could yet stay at Celtic if no suitable offer is submitted for the former Scunthorpe forward.

Austin is said to be one of the players on Neil Lennon’s radar should Hooper leave.

The former bricklayer has netted 42 goals in 81 games for the Lancashire side.
