Celtic needed an injury-time equaliser from Diego Laxalt to snatch a point at Easter Road after falling two goals behind to Jack Ross’ side.
The visitors dominated the opening period but struggled to create chances with a Mohamed Elyounoussi header the only real clear-cut opportunity they had.
They were hit with a sucker punch after the break following a rash and clumsy challenge from Scott Brown on Martin Boyle. Kevin Nisbet had his penalty saved by Rangers loanee Jamie Murphy followed up the rebound.
From there Hibs were a consistent threat in attack, doubling the scoring through Nisbet a short-time later.
Celtic were able to rescue something after Paul McGinn was adjudged to have handled in the penalty box and substitute Odsonne Edouard tucked his spot-kick away. Laxalt then levelled the scores, firing into the roof of the net after a poor clearance from Paul Hanlon.

There's no doubting his threat going forward, but he was dreadful defensively. Failed to track Jamie Murphy at the penalty and didn't even try to win the header in the build up to the second. Photo: Craig Foy - SNS Group

Dominated Nisbet in the first half, was stretched a little bit at times but he was definitely not the one at fault for Celtic's shambolic defensive performance. Photo: Craig Foy - SNS Group
