'He will not extend his contract with Celtic and will leave this summer': Agent drops transfer bombshell

Kristoffer Ajer is set to demand a move away from the Scottish champions

Kristoffer Ajer’s agent has dropped a bombshell on Celtic ahead of the Old Firm showdown on Sunday by revealing the Norwegian defender will definitely leave in the summer.

The 21-year-old star still has two years left of his deal at Parkhead and insisted in January he had no intention of quitting the champions, despite being linked with big money moves to clubs in England and Europe.

But his agent, Tore Pedersen, has suggested it's inevitable Ajer will leave Glasgow at the end of the season.

He said: "He will not extend his contract with Celtic and will leave this summer.

"There are several clubs who are interested, but I can't go into their names. There are many who have followed him for a long period.

"There are also clubs who would like to have him, but who cannot afford it. There is generally great interest in Kristoffer."

In January, Ajer made clear he saw his long-term future at Parkhead, despite the transfer speculation.

He said: "I’m really happy now, I’ve got two and a half years at Celtic and I’m happy with it. I love playing for Celtic.

"All talk of contracts is between my agent and the club and I’m just concentrated on day-to-day work and trying to be the best footballer I can."

But it now appears he could be Celtic's latest big money departure.
