'He can't survive this' - Celtic manager Neil Lennon on the brink after shock Betfred Cup defeat to Ross County
Lennon went into the Betfred Cup last 16 tie needing a victory to ease the pressure on his shoulders amid growing calls for him to be sacked following a poor run of form that has saw the Parkhead side fall 11 points behind Rangers in the race for the Scottish Premiership title, while also crashing out of the Europa League after two dreadful 4-1 home and away defeats to Sparta Prague.
However, goals from Ross Stewart and Alex Lacovitti only compounded what has now become a perilous situation for the Celtic boss, as summed up by former Celtic player and pundit Chris Sutton, who tweeted: “Neil Lennon has been badly let down by his players but he can’t survive this. He’s been a great servant to the club.”
